R&D Product Manager

About the job

Lead product application analysis, design verification, and technical documentation for electric motors manufactured locally. Act as the key technical bridge between the plant and global R&D teams for product customization, engineering changes, and problem-solving.

Our client is a global leader in electric motor solutions, serving manufacturing and heavy industries worldwide. They are expanding local R&D capabilities in Vietnam to support product adaptation and technical collaboration with headquarters.

2. Role & Responsibilities

Local R&D & Customization

• Lead plant-level R&D for product variants and local modifications of electric motors

• Analyze customer requirements and define product configurations

• Create and release CAD drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation following global R&D standards

• Provide technical inputs for product cost analysis (BOM, volumes, timelines)

Engineering Change Management

• Support global R&D teams in managing engineering change requests and deviations

• Ensure proper implementation of design changes across manufacturing and quality functions

• Maintain full traceability and documentation for all design changes

Compliance & Optimization

• Support product certification for locally manufactured motors

• Ensure designs comply with international standards

• Identify cost reduction opportunities through design improvements

• Collaborate with purchasing, operations, and global R&D on manufacturability

Technical Support

• Provide R&D support to sales and application teams during customer discussions

• Assist with customer and regulatory audits related to product engineering

3. Requirements

Experience

• 8–10+ years in R&D, product design, or application engineering for electric motors

• Strong background in product development and engineering change management

• Experience with PLM systems (CAD, BOM, technical documentation)

• Proven experience in manufacturing environments

• Exposure to international R&D organizations and global product platforms

Technical Skills

• Customer technical requirements analysis

• Technical feasibility analysis and calculations

• Knowledge of international standards and DFMEA

• Product design and technical documentation

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering

• Good command of English
