Role & Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Lead and develop a team of project managers, engineers, and lab staff.
- Ensure continuous improvement in quality, cost competitiveness, and launch deadlines.
- Respect and enforce new product development processes in line with global procedures.
- Drive the project portfolio, analyzing risks and implementing corrective actions.
- Provide efficient reporting, alerting when necessary, and supporting decision‑making.
- Build trust and collaboration with related departments, suppliers, and customers.
Product Development & Execution
- Propose optimal options for product development aligned with industrial strategy.
- Define project goals, anticipate difficulties, and implement action plans.
- Manage development resources and project investments.
- Lead project progress reviews and report to product committees and business units.
- Ensure competitiveness of technical ranges (components, sub‑sets, platforms).
- Oversee technical projects such as part development, component standardization, value engineering, and cost optimization.
- Manage finished goods projects across innovation, design‑to‑cost, and CKD/SKD models, following validation gates from pre‑study to market launch.
Cross‑Functional & External Collaboration
- Work with various departments across the global organization in matrix and hierarchical structures.
- Collaborate with suppliers under the purchasing department to maximize benefits and optimize solutions.
- Communicate regularly with business units and subsidiaries on project status, reporting progress, and activating back‑up plans when needed.
- Coordinate transversal teamwork with local teams on project actions and business support.
- Engage with third parties such as certification bodies, standards authorities, and partners.
Sustainable Development
- Integrate principles of ethics, social responsibility, HR, and environmental sustainability into R&D activities.
Requirements
- Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering; MBA in technical management is a plus.
- 10+ years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in new product development projects.
- Strong background in electrical appliance development.
- Minimum 5 years of working experience in Vietnam with good awareness of local culture and context.
- Ability to manage teams, resources, and investments effectively.
- Knowledge of quality tools (FMEA, value analysis, test plans, design reviews).
- Experience collaborating with product marketing and understanding consumer goods markets.
- Strong leadership skills: ability to set objectives, delegate, and develop employees.
