Position Overview:

We are looking for a driven and skilled Chemist to join our team and contribute to the advancement of our Polyurethane (PU) foam manufacturing. This position plays a key role in ensuring formulation consistency, improving product performance, and enhancing our internal testing capabilities. Working within a global technical environment, the successful candidate will support both local and international initiatives in product development and laboratory operations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Formulation Engineering:

• Develop and refine open-cell PU foam formulas to meet evolving production and performance criteria.
• Maintain consistent product quality that meets both internal benchmarks and customer expectations.

Laboratory Development:

• Spearhead the setup and enhancement of foam testing protocols, including defining test procedures, calibrating lab equipment, and interpreting results.
• Provide technical input across various material categories as part of broader lab initiatives.

Manufacturing Support:

• Troubleshoot and resolve PU foam production challenges in collaboration with operations teams.
• Coordinate with the R&D division in Spain to ensure consistency in formulation and testing practices.

Interdepartmental Coordination:

• Work alongside the Procurement team to assess and validate raw materials (such as polyols, isocyanates, and additives).
• Engage with suppliers and technical partners to evaluate new materials and technologies.

Standards & Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with internal quality, environmental, and safety protocols.
• Support product development projects tailored to leading global footwear and apparel clients, aligning with their technical and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Polymer Engineering, or related scientific disciplines.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in PU foam manufacturing, preferably in open-cell applications.
• Demonstrated experience working with global footwear or apparel brands under strict technical specifications.
• Proficient in conducting foam performance tests (e.g., density, rebound, hardness, compression set) and operating laboratory equipment.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken, for effective international communication.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical findings and suggest practical enhancements.
• Background in PU foam use for footwear applications (especially midsoles or insoles) is preferred.
• Exposure to PU foam used in the furniture sector is a plus.
• Experience in establishing lab testing infrastructure or optimizing lab workflows.
• Familiarity with rebound foam systems and foam-to-fabric lamination techniques.
• Knowledge of regulatory and sustainability trends specific to the industry.
• Previous experience working in a cross-functional R&D setting within a global matrix organization
